Hello /r/immigration, Happy Friday! I am a US citizen married to a PhD student who I met during my time at the same graduate program (I left with my masters).
My wife and I were married in May and applied for marriage based greencard and not knowing any better, took our lawyers advice to also file the I-131 and I-765 at the same time.
The filing and receipt notice were in September and my wife has recently defended her dissertation and expects to graduate in December.
Given the long processing times of EAD through AOS, can we file for an F-1 OPT for my wife to be able to work sooner?
