Submit AOS while waiting for CR1?

Hi everyone, would it be possible to file a AOS (i-485)after starting the CR1 process (forms mailed) when marriage happend aboard?

Background: I'm a US citizen, married to a non-citizen outside of the United State 7 months ago. Because my job , I had to return to the U.S. We decided to go for CR1 route to get my partner a green card. My partner is currently visiting me on ESTA (been about 10 days, and leaving in 5 days). Everything is great but she's becoming emotional and upset as the return flight date is getting close. Would it be possible to submit i-485 so that she can continue to stay while waiting for the AOS? Will this be faster than the CR1 to get her to stay with me?

Appreciate the suggestions.
