Moving to USA to marry my fiancé and we want to rent an apartment - how can it be done?

I am moving to the USA to marry my fiancé in Tucson, AZ. We are trying to rent a place out there but they all ask for social security number and other info. Because I am a uk citizen it seems like this may be an issue as I am not a resident.

Has anyone here done this and if so how did it work out for you? How did you get around the fact that you were on a K1 visa with no history of living in the USA etc?
