How to support someone in a detention center?

Just found out a friend of a friend travelled from Nicaragua to the US, was detained, and is in a detention center in Nicaragua. The family just reached out to ask for help. Without being able to provide significant monetary support (and it being not a super close relationship), is there anything I can do to support? I'm assuming he'll be deported, but not being knowledgeable about US immigration law, wondering if there's anything I can do to help him out while he's detained, or help his family?

TL;DR - friend of a friend detained after crossing the US/Mexico border illegally, how can I support?
