Travel with expired passport with valid tourist visa?

Can I travel to U.S from country X(expired country X passport with valid U S tourist visa), with a valid UK passport?

With a UK passport, I can only get 3 months, but I would like to get up to 6 months with the tourist visa.

I'm worried that having the valid US tourist visa in a passport received from a country different from my current UK passport will prevent me from obtaining 6 months stay.

N.B - I received my valid U.S tourist visa in passport X at UK embassy.

I appreciate any input. :)
