Spousal visa: Hire a lawyer or DIY?

Just got engaged and after lots of research have decided the spousal visa is best for us- we’ll get married in his country where he lives and then apply for the spousal visa. No criminal history from either of us, he’s never been to the US, and nothing else I can think of that could complicate our case. Should we still hire a lawyer to make sure all our T’s are crossed/possibly have it done faster or is it pretty straightforward doing it on our own? We found a great lawyer that charges $4000 plus the federal filing fees. It’s $500 to start and then $250/month after that, no interest. We could pay it but also could really use that extra money. Is it worth it?
