How to avoid issues visiting partner on ESTA

Hi all,

I am travelling to the states this week from the UK to visit my long-term partner and her family. I have no intentions beyond that and have my return ticket. This is just a 2 week xmas trip.

I occasionally see horror stories about people being taken to secondary and am a bit nervous. I work full time at a University (new-ish job) but I currently live with my parents.

Any tips for documents I can take along with me? Or any good experiences people can share to help calm my fears?
