My husband (the conditional GC holder) and I (petitioner spouse) finally had our I-751 adjustment of status for permanent GC interview recently after applying for it in January 2020, and it got combined with his N-400 naturalization application that he sent in July. We were approved and he passed the naturalization exam.
We left a bit confused what happens next. There will be an oath ceremony at some point that he has to go to, then I assume he can get a naturalization certificate and then apply for a passport with that. But will he be sent a permanent GC too? Right now all his documents are expired, even the I-797 we got after applying for the adjustment of status, which was his only document allowing him to return to the US if he left. And there's a 12+ week wait to get a passport and it's unclear how long it takes before the oath ceremony happens and how long it takes to get the naturalization certificate (I assume they don't just hand it to you there).
Anyone have an idea how this goes when these are combined? Thanks!
