My greencard got lost in the mail and I’m waiting for the replacement. However, I’d like to leave the USA to go back to my country of birth for Christmas. I called for an infopass appointment and am waiting for them to call me back, they said it could be up to a month.
I was thinking of leaving the US and returning as a visitor if I don’t get the I-551 before Christmas.
Is this a risky strategy? Is there anything else I can do to expedite things?
