This is kind of a specific question and I will quickly give some backstory.
I applied for a J1 visa at the consulate in Frankfurt for a 3-month research project in Denver. The officer then denied my NIE since I could not prove I will receive credits from my home university for the stay. He gave me a form and said if I sent the missing documents via mail I should still be able to get my visa. I have sent in the missing documents on the same day, which was two days ago but did not receive a reply yet. Now my question is, since the program starts soon on Aug 17, is there any chance that I will receive my visa in time? Does anyone have previous experience with how long it takes to get a reply from the consulate? (Preferably in Germany, I don't know if it is comparable to other countries)
The consulate website states they will ignore any such questions which is why I don't ask them directly.
If there is no chance of me receiving a visa in time I have to get to Croatia or Mexico as soon as possible and enter as a tourist.
