Canadian PhD student living in the USA on F1 just recently graduated with a job offer, but worried my OPT wont come in time. Should I go TN?

The title more or less says it all. My job starts August 24th and my OPT was received May 25th. My I-20 ends August 15th, so I still have the 60 days grace period. I'm currently living in the USA, but I'm getting anxious my OPT wont come in time and I will be dinged for working the job out of status.

Would it be easier for me to apply for a TN visa? Can I do this while living in the country?
