I'm a student on an F-1 visa (currently out of the US on summer break), planning to have my brother visit me for a week at the apartment I'll be renting out for the next school year. My brother has a valid B-2 tourist visa obtained some years ago, but never actually entered the US before. The plan would be for us to travel together to the US, after which my brother would return home while I stay for college.
I'm concerned about the possibility that my brother won't be allowed entry in the US, since I know a valid visa is not a guarantee he will enter. While we're not coming from a territory subject to a covid travel ban, my brother just graduated High School, is unemployed, and is not yet enrolled in an University (he's still waiting for one more admission decision). I'm thinking that these factors could make the customs officer conclude my brother no longer has ties to our home country, and become suspicious of him wanting to stay in the US unlawfully and live with me.
Am I right to be concerned about this? Would a flight ticket out of the US be enough proof that my brother will only stay for a week?
