How necessary is it to have affidavits to accompany an I-751 petition to remove conditional status from a green card?
The instructions say that the evidence "should include, but are not limited to, the following examples: ... 5. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have known both of you since your conditional residence was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship."
However, I have seen websites from immigration lawyers that say that affidavits are "not mandatory, but recommended" but that they cannot take the place of other "strong evidence" such as having kids together, sharing finances, etc.
My wife and I got married legally in Feb 2019, then had a religious ceremony that summer. Our daughter was born last year. My wife is on the lease to our apartment with me, we file joint tax returns, our primary bank account and investment accounts are held as joint tenant accounts, she is on my credit card, we have a joint cell phone plan, health insurance, etc. etc. Plus loads of pictures of the two (or three) of us hanging out with my family here in the US, celebrating holidays, etc.
Should I still get affidavits? If so, is there any problem with them being from my family members (cousins, aunt/uncle, etc.) as opposed to unrelated people?
