US land border crossing from Canada - For a meeting (Essential Travel?)

Context: I am Canadian Citizen living in Toronto. I have to attend a meeting in Buffalo this week. I understand the land border is for "essential" travel. But given it is Buffalo (2 hour drive); taking a flight that would take more than 8-10 hours. I was curious to find out what is considered essential?

Is "going for a customer sales meeting" acceptable for land crossing? I have to physically view the site to develop a quote and thus it cannot be done over video conference.

Note - I do not have any VISA's. This will be a business visitor entry.

I travelled to Chicago last week but that was through air travel.
