NIE already on Visa page?

Hi Guys, perhaps someone can help me with this.

I recently received a visa to work in the US and will be traveling from the Schengen area. I understand I need an NIE to get stateside, or even on the plane.

On the actual visa in my passport, there is the annotation “NIE UNDER PP ON NOVEL CORONAVIRUS”

My question is, does this qualify as a sort of non-expiring NIE and I can travel whenever I need, I do I still need to contact a US consulate with my travel dates to receive a piece of paper and be put on a digital “ok to fly on this date” list?
