Do I qualify for DCF? I know that the decision is ultimately up to the consular officer, but wondering if anyone knows whether I'd likely qualify or not. Based on the listed "exceptional circumstances" I would apply because I, the petitioner (US Citizen), am living in Canada with my partner, but I was just offered a job in California. However, the background processing for the job takes roughly 90 days (it's been 10 already) and the start date would be afterwards and is apparently negotiable.
I'm currently unemployed, so I'd like to start asap, but I also don't want to leave without my partner. Essentially, is 2 - 3 months considered short notice for a job application? I plan to marry my partner in Canada in 2 weeks and expect to have the Form I-130 and documents ready for submittal, so it'd be closer to 2 months. I've read somewhere that an example would be having a 2-4 week start date, but that's cutting it super close in my opinion. I'd need to set up housing a month ahead of time, but if I'm going by myself, I'll just stay in my friend's guest room. Also, I need to give my landlord 2 months notice of moving out, which could be when I leave, or may be later when my partner leaves, so my planning is heavily dependent on when my partner can enter the states.
Also, would this process produce a green card, or is this just expediting the first step and we'll still need to go through the 2-ish months of NVC processing and a couples weeks of embassy interview, etc?
