How can you find out if you’re barred entry from the US? Background: Brazilian on tourist visa in 2017 valid for 3 years - overstayed 1 year

TL:DR - we want to hire a Brazilian & sponsor their visa to work with us in California. She overstayed in US - is there some way to find out if she has a ban from entering the country?

Hi, I’m thinking of hiring an exceptionally talented Brazilian woman as part of the C-Suite of our company in California. We’re a financial technology company.

We were looking into sponsoring her visa but she told me she had been in the US from 2016-2017 on a tourist visa. She had found work & overstayed about 1 year.

She had applied for an extension of stay (under her tourism visa) but moved addresses before receiving a response letter in 2017. She was not deported, had no issues or confrontation leaving the US in Sept. 2017.

She fears she may have a 3 year ban from entering the US.

Is there some way to find out if she has a ban from entering the US?
