J1 visa how to prove that you have strong ties in your home country for j 1 visa

Hi everyone I would like to know how to prove that you have strong ties in your home country for j1 visa ?

I am currently on a student visa in South Africa and it expires on 31 December 2020. I am Congolese so I haven’t been to go since I was 2 years old .

Most agencies aren’t open to extend or reissue my visa so I want to stay here till I can travel or would it be better to go back to my home country then apply for the j1 there or do I stay in South Africa and apply for the j1 ,would me staying here affect my visa and possibly get denied
