Have not seen my family since 2019 due to COVID. I am planning a trip end of September/early October for 2 weeks. I am fully vaccinated. My worst case scenario fear would be a travel ban being slapped onto Canada due to a spike in cases or a new variant, and if I wouldn’t be able to fly back to the US. I think it would be pretty unlikely given Canada’s high vaccination rates and precautions, thr US’s connection with Canada, and given they have never placed a travel ban on Canada for flying, even through initial year of COVID.
Another question- these travel bans usually aren’t immediate. They usually take effect the next day from what I’ve seen. If I paid attention to the news and noticed such a travel ban, couldn’t I just drive across the border and fly back to my city before the ban took effect? I know there’s a tourism ban at land crossings but I think I could still get across with an H1B. Thanks!
