I applied for an L1B extension (blanket) from outside the US and the application was denied. I got promoted to manager recently (just before my visa interview) and I have management responsibilities. The company lawyers want me to reapply but for L1A (blanket) instead of going the L1B/L1A individual route. They are using the "change of circumstance", that is, I was promoted to a manager, as a reason to apply for L1A. I know that L1A and L1B requirements are different but they are still under the same visa category.
My questions are:
1) Do you think my change of circumstance (promotion to manager) qualifies me for an L1A? I have been manager for a few months
2)What are the chances of getting the L1A blanket approved? Before I moved to the US as an L1B I had managerial experience for 12 months with the foreign branch (12 months managerial experience within 3 years before my move to US). Would this improve my chances of getting the L1A blanket approved?
