Sooo I finally became a US citizen. I have a brother back home who is 19 years old and I want to bring him here.
I know the straightforward process is to apply for him through me via the F4 visa... but that takes almost 15 years now!!!!
So what I'm thinking is to apply for a green card to my Mom which is a process that takes a year or so, then after she gets it, she can apply for my younger brother to come here.
So when my mom applies for him next year, he will be still under 21, but the problem is during the case process he will turn 21. I know if the applicant was a US citizen, the child age freezes from the day she applies for him so doesn't matter if he turns 21.
Buttt, I was told that since she will be a permanent resident and NOT a US citizen when she applies for him, that age freeze rule doesn't apply and it will take much longer.
Can anyone confirm if this true?
I tried to reach out to UCIS multiple times but wasn't able to get a hold of anyone!
