Hi,
I am a J1 student who needs a NIE to return to the USA to continue my studies. I applied for a NIE last summer (August 2020) and it was approved within 24 hours of my email.
This time it has been two weeks since I applied to the US Embassy in Madrid and I haven't received any response except for the auto-response that says we are considering your request. My flight is in 2 weeks and I am getting concerned.
I am trying to figure out if the Embassy in Madrid is taking a long time to respond to all NIE requests, or if this delay is specific to me perhaps indicating there was something wrong with my application or it got lost?
Has anyone recently applied for a NIE from the Madrid embassy? If so how long until you heard back/were approved/denied?
