Hi, so my OPT expires June 10th and I was working a non STEM job (writer on a TV show) and planning to apply for an O1B till the show got cancelled completely due to Corona. I've since found an (unpaid) STEM job with a startup, they're legit but it's basically a friend doing me a favor and they aren't e-verify yet. I've got enough savings from my job to survive a 6 month lull. My plan is to ride this out and get hired on another TV show and change my status.
Does anybody know how long e-verify will take for them? Also, is there a minimum pay needed for a STEM OPT job?
What else should I keep in mind about a change of status during this uncertain time?
Also, is there something my employer needs to keep in mind while hiring me/something I need to keep in mind?
