In Part 5 of form I-864, petitioner is asked for information about their household size. Question 1 asks directly for the number of applicants that the petitioner (my spouse) is sponsoring. The answer to that is 1 as I am the only one being sponsored.
Then, Question 2 asks the petitioner to write 1 to include themselves, and Question 3 asks the petitioner to write 1 again if they have a spouse. Questions 4-7 asks for other dependents, which are not relevant to our case. However, in Question 8, the form asks you to declare the household size of the petitioner by adding the responses for questions 1 through 7.
This leads to a problem since I will be double-counted in Question 1 and in Question 3. Adding responses for questions 1 through 7 means we will have to enter our household size as 3, whereas our household size is just my spouse and me (i.e. 2). So, we are leaning on entering 2 as our household size despite the fact that following the instruction to add questions 1 through 7 leads a household size of 3, which is not the case. However, we wanted a second opinion on this. Thanks.
