Has anybody compiled (been approved) their O-1 visa without an immigration lawyer?

I was just wondering if anybody has managed to do this without an attorney? It kinda feels like they are just the middle person? You curate all your forms, requirements together etc and then hand it to them....to hand in? And it sets you back THOUSANDS :(

I've handled every other work visa I've had before myself - not sure why this suddenly needs a lawyer/attorney. Am I just being ignorant? Cheap?

A few questions: I filed my N400 naturalization on March 23, 2020. Nearly one year later on Feb 2021 they sent me a notice that they'll reuse my biometrics from my green card application, but they won't refund the biometric fee!
