DV Lottery selectee: Do I need to complete the DS-260 if I am applying for AOS and not applying through my country's embassy?
Diversity Visa Lottery selectee: Do I need to complete the DS-260 online form if I am applying for Adjustment of Status (AOS) and not applying through my country's consulate/embassy?

This Department of State (DOS) Diversity Visa page states the following:
"Selected entrants are encouraged to complete the online DS-260 application immediately to schedule an interview appointment at the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate."
So it seems it must only be completed if one is applying through an Embassy or Consulate.
This DOS AOS page for the Diversity Visa program page does not mention completing the DS-260 form.
The USCIS page for the AOS through the DV Lottery does not mention completing the DS-260 either.
On the other hand, when you go to the Consular Electronic Application Center page to complete the DS-260 form and search for your case, eventually, you are asked whether you want to apply for an immigrant visa through Adjustment of Status or an Embassy/Consulate abroad.
I have already mailed my I-485 application to the appropriate mailing address. I was hesitant to complete the DS-260 form since I already mailed my I-485 application.
