Question on Filling DS160

Hi,

I have 2 questions regarding fields in DS-160 form

Does abbreviation count as a different name e.g. My name is Samuel Leroy Jackson in passport and Samuel L. Jackson in degree certificate - Should I add Samuel L. Jackson in other names field ?
In 'Course of Study' field in education history and SEVIS information sections, I am expected to enter my major or concentration. Should this be a) B.E. Electrical Engineering or b) Electrical Engineering. I felt b was the right option, but there is no other field to enter education level.
