17 years old flying alone from Morocco to the US on F1 visa. Do i need a letter of authorization signed by absent parents ?

Hi there! i am 3 months away from turning 18, and i want to know if my parents need to write and sign a letter where they explain that they are aware of me flying alone, from Morocco to JFK. Is this process necessary? or a 17 years old is considered an adult?
