Is it risky to go home for Christmas if my visa expires December 31?

I am currently living in Germany and my student visa will expire on December 31. I received a job offer in October, however paperwork and everything is taking a long time to process. I would like to go visit my family for Christmas but I am worried that I will not be able to reenter the country. I haven't seen them in almost two years (because of covid). My plan is to come back December 28, a few days before the visa expires.

Can anyone advise me on this situation? Is it too risky?
