Hi!
I have dual citizenship Canada and France. I also lived in the US from 3-18 years old. I have a Green Card that is going to expire in August 2022, but since I was 19 (I am currently 28) I have been living in Canada. Now I wish to return to the US, but for what I have been reading, it seems like I may not be able to re enter with my Green Card as it is considered "abandoned".
-
Is there any way I can renew it or re enter the US to work? I do not own any property or have family there anymore. I moved to Canada to go to university and then I stayed for work.
-
Can I renew my green card if I didn't sign an exit form or told the officials that I would not be returning in the next year when I left the US?
-
Should I call immigration and tell them that I have a green card but I forgot to sign the exit form when I left the US 12 years ago?
-
If I tell immigration now that I abandoned my green card status, and they revoke my green card, is that gonna affect me negatively in the future when applying for a TN visa or if I happen to win the green card lottery?
-
Should I have been paying taxes in the US all this years even though I never worked there or lived there since I left?
Thank you for your help!
