B1B2 10 year multiple entry

I have a few questions regarding that visa.

How many months can i stay per year, is that from jan to dec or from first entry in that particular year? Can i make multiple entries and start more than 6m total per year, ie 3m from jan to march 3m from july to sept and 2m from nov to dec?
is the six month stay we get at port of entry the total six months during the whole ten years? (doesnt sound right, rite?), or just for that particular visit.
i will be getting a j1 visa later when i start training however next year i have to visit on b1b2 for my exams and for the end of year for the interviews.
