So my boyfriend and I were planning on getting engaged in December of this year and filing for the k1 once he returns back home. With current COVID things I’m pretty sure that isn’t happening now. He is in UK and I am in US. I have a couple questions because everything I try to search comes up with confusing or irrelevant answers.

If he isn’t able to get here in December and we aren’t able to be “officially” engaged, do we need to wait to do an official one before I file the petition? I know you have to send documentation of everything and wasn’t sure if there had to be documentation as far as an in person engagement for that. What sort of documentation did you guys send?

If I file the petition, is he able to travel here during the waiting period?

If it’s approved and we marry and all that, is he able to apply for a work visa right away or is it after we get married?
