Hi, I just transitioned out of academia into an industry position and while filling out my tax requirements, they offered a form 8233 "treaty" that I could use.
Now I have absolute zero understanding of how tax forms work.:
My questions are:
What is this 8233 form?
Does it mean, it will withhold less federal taxes from my paycheck?
Should I file it?
Will it affect my chances at applying for a green card in the future?
