Hi everyone! I'm applying for my first adult US passport (previous one was issued when I was a minor). I scheduled an appointment for Sep. 30th and got this email for the consulate (it's a section, not the entire thing):
"All applicants need:
Their most recent U.S. passport and a photocopy of the bio data page. If you do not have your most recent passport, you must provide a completed DS-64 form detailing the circumstances of the loss.
A valid, government-issued, photo identification document. These include a valid or expired U.S. passport, a valid foreign passport, a valid U.S. driver’s license or a permanent National ID card (paper/temporary versions are not accepted). Bring a Photocopy of front and back of valid ID."
I don't have a permanent national ID card atm and getting one in my country would be difficult, given the time frame. My question is: can the expired US passport serve as both "proof of US citizenship" and "valid government-issued ID"?
Or should I just email the consulate for directions? I'm wary of going this route since most official emails are rarely monitored?
I'd appreciate all replies, as I have been getting anxious about my documentation since I have to travel in a few weeks and cannot afford any delays in processing. Thanks!
