My then GF and I took a trip to Aruba recently as a graduation gift from me to us (we both graduated at the same time). Both flew back to the states. (I am a US citizen, she is a Canadian citizen) I proposed on a private flight last week (I’m a pilot and we were just flying around my hometown in the US). She has to go back to work next week in Canada and already has a return ticket but now that we’re doing a lot of visa research we’re finding out going through the K1 fiancĂ© visa path or the CR1 if we did a quick courtroom marriage is going to take up to 2 years. She’s in the country right now legally, should we just do adjustment of status? Canceling the flight ticket isn’t a big deal and neither is her job since the both of us would be staying with my parents and I make enough to support the rest of our expenses. She had no intent to stay here until I popped the proposal and even then I fully expected her to go back after the engagement but this backlog of visa applications is scaring me. I start a new job here soon and am planning to move out from my parents house for the first time in my life, I really need her with me for all this.
Edit: If we do go the AoS route, how do I prove all this on our paperwork and to the officer at the interview???
