My name was legally changed when I was younger but all of my paperwork for the past 20 years has all been updated to reflect that (birth certificate, passport, etc). When I applied for my passport (Canada) last year I provided my current birth certificate and nothing else was required.
We're applying for the K1 Visa for me to move to the US and they ask questions about the name change but I don't have any legal documents and the lawyer that performed the change is no longer practicing (no one took over the practice). Is my current birth certificate sufficient or will I need to go through the courts to try and request copies of the change etc?
