Entering the US on an ESTA but in between jobs

Hi

I'll be reuniting with family and my gf in the states in a few months, I'm leaving my current job after being employed for a number of years straight from university and I'm taking around 3-4 months off to travel, I'll be visiting the US for 2 months under the VWP.

I've been to the US many times without any issues at all, each visit usually no more than 3 weeks.

Will CBP take issue to me being in between jobs? I will be trying to secure a position to start before I go out but its possible I might still be in the middle of applications by the time I go (I work in investments/wealth management) and I will be honest about this. I will have a return ticket but am I likely to get grilled at the border? I can bring proof of assets/bank accounts/rental lease etc but I'd like to stay on the good side of CBP, some advice on this would be great.

Thanks!!
