OPT - Disclosing Status to employers?

It's my first time doing OPT so I'm new to the process. I have a couple of friends who have done their OPT after undergrad and they're telling me they aren't disclosing the fact they're on masters OPT on their job applications. I know OPT job applications usually get passed on due to just being OPT so I get why they're hiding it (I also get why companies pass on OPT students.)

I was wondering if that was even an option? I don't really know how they're doing it though because several of the applications I've completed asked whether I need sponsorship now or in the future.
