Confused about immigrant visa

Long story long, I’ve been a green card holder for a year now, married for 2 (got my green card through marriage since the application my mom filed in 2014 for family based immigration was still on the wait list in Europe). And now I get a letter my family based immigration visa is now processing and I need to go to the consulate in my home country to give them all the documents and get my visa. What do I do now? Can they cancel my green card? Like we gave all the documentation etc when we applied for my green card and I’m just amazed that they don’t communicate that between immigration authorities? Thanks!
