My wife and I just got married, she is here on political asylum. Can she safely change her name on her legal documents without creating problems for her immigration status?
As stated, I just got married and my wife wants to take my last name. I am a US citizen but she is an immigrant here on political asylum (from Venezuela). Would it cause any problems for her status here if she changed her name on her social security card/work permit/state ID? I imagine changing your name on these things is pretty routine for newlywed women but I just wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks a bunch.
