USA immigration family sponsorship process help needed

Hello everyone, I don't have much knowledge about immigration so I'm here looking for help.

So I have a grandmother who is a US citizen and she applied to bring my family (my dad is her son) to the US many years ago and the application is finally in the final stage right now. However, there is a possibility that my grandma might pass away before everything is done because she is quite old and ill. I want to know if she does pass away, would my family application be safe at a certain point of the process? or will the application be invalid anyway if the worst happens?
