US immigration law for cannabis consumption

When someone is in the process of getting their green card, they aren’t supposed to consume THC things (even if they’re in a state that is legal) because it’s still against federal laws right? So the big question I have specifically is if a person fails a drug test when trying to get a job, does that show up on their record to where they could get denied citizenship because of it?
