I-130 query

I got my US Spousal visa stamped in my passport before Christmas. Hurray. I have until the end of April to travel to the USA to get my visa validated or it will expire. I am flying to the US early March. My question is.....

If my flight gets cancelled and I cannot make it over in time (before the expiry date), can I apply to get the expiry date extended? If yes how do I go about that?
