No records from FBI or FOIA- Safe to proceed?
Thanks to all who have helped us so far. My husband and I are in the process of beginning our journey to get his papers and were advised to do FOIA’s and get his FBI fingerprints done to see if there had been a record of him being caught at the border and sent back as an 18 year old- which we were worried there was a record of.
Turns out, there’s nothing. Nothing from CBP, no A-File from USCIS, and the only thing the FBI has is from when he was fingerprinted after driving on a suspended license 8 years ago, which he did community service for.
I’m trying not to get my hopes up but- this is good news, right? Our lawyer advised us to get all of this done before he would decide to take our case or not.
Just wondering your thoughts, Reddit community— if the I-130 and I-601 will be a bit easier for us now that he doesn’t have an illegal crossing arrest on his record.
Thank you 🙏🏼
