Medical student travelling from Europe on an ESTA for medical elective rotations. Do I need an NIE?

Hi everyone

I have secured some medical elective rotations at several US clinics and hospitals this summer, and have been granted an ESTA when applying via the online portal. However, I am travelling from a country affected by the Presidential Proclamation (Poland), and understand the rules are I cant have been in any European country in the last 14 days.

Given my ESTA has been granted already, is requesting an NIE necessary, or can I just enter without one? Im scheduled to leave for the US in 30 days, so I am a little nervous about what may happen if the NIE is denied
