Does visiting the US from Canada count against my ESTA?

So let’s pretend the pandemic was over or at least boarders in Canada and the US are open. Now I have an internship opportunity in Canada where I stay on my eTA for six months. During those six months I want to visit the US every other weekend (crossing the boarder by land) and stay there for like 3 days (Fri-Sun). Can I do this for the whole six months or will my 90 day ESTA clock count down from the first time I enter the US and then I can only do this for three months?
