I Wanna Help My Boyfriend Get Citizenship, Where Do I Start?

Hi all, I was born and raised here in America (proud American) and my boyfriend (soon to be fiancé) is from the Middle East. He has been here for about six years and is a vacation visa overstay. His English is pretty good (except reading/writing) and I speak (and read/write) a bit of Arabic. I'm a senior in my Bachelor's Degree program and he works full-time (I hope one day I can convince him to go to college as well). I've been with him since December 2018. I love him very much and want to be with him for the rest of my life. I don't want his presence here to be uncertain anymore.

Where do I begin in our journey? He already has a case with an immigration lawyer, should we go to him? I know a bit about the process myself, but just need any tips or anyone else's advice who has been through it or may know more. Thank you kindly!

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: ​ " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." ​ We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this.
