Green card through wife... who will be applying

I work in the US on an H1B, and my employer (FAANG tech company) has started my green card process. However, my nationality means that it will take forever for me to get a green card.

My wife, however, is finishing her PhD soon, has several publications, and is able to apply for a green card through EB1. Her birthplace and nationality also means that she will get her green card very soon.

Can I get my green card faster through her? My “date” on my current petition is 6-8 years out. Would I have to give up my spot in line, and if so, is it worth it to go through my wife instead?
