Hello,
I am a US citizen and I’ve applied for a marriage green card for my wife who is living outside the US. My wife is my first cousin and first cousin marriage is not legal in the state that I live in. Right now we are at the stage of waiting for an interview date from US embassy overseas. We are afraid our application will be rejected because of we are cousins.
Our thought is that I should move to a different state where cousin marriage is legal so that we do not have issues once the interview date is granted and she takes the interview.
Any advice would be appreciated. Or if anyone is familiar with this situation and has seen it before I would appreciate your input.
Thanks!
