I was told that if a non-immigrant Visa holder travels to Canada or Mexico for a short trip (< 30 days) a new I-94 would NOT be generated upon re-entry.
I just came back from Canada and I have a new I-94 with a much shorter admission time than my lawful status expiration date, due to my passport expiring in 2022. My previous I-94 had much longer admission time (same as lawful status). Was this a mistake of the CBP officer? Or was I uninformed?
